Paper on Resolution-Adaptive All-Digital Equalization Accepted at SPAWC'21!
Congratulations to Oscar Castañeda and Seyed Hadi Mirfarshbafan for the acceptance of their paper at SPAWC 2021.

The paper “Resolution-Adaptive All-Digital Spatial Equalization for mmWave Massive MU-MIMO” proposes a base-station architecture that is able to instantaneously adapt the resolution of its data converters and spatial equalizer to the communication scenario, including the number of user equipments being served, the modulation being used, as well as the channel propagation conditions. By doing so, the base-station is able reduce the resolution of both the data converters and equalizer when, for example, fewer user equipments are being served. This adaptivity results in significant power savings when compared to a non-adaptive base-station whose resolutions stay fixed.
The paper is co-authored by Oscar Castañeda (ETH), Seyed Hadi Mirfarshbafan (ETH), Shahaboddin Ghajari (Cornell), Prof. Alyosha Molnar (Cornell), Sven Jacobsson (Ericsson Research), Prof. Giuseppe Durisi (Chalmers University of Technology), and Prof. Christoph Studer (ETH). You can find a preprint of the paper on external page arXiv. The results of this paper motivates our resolution-adaptive all-digital spatial equalization ASIC for a 32-antenna base-station, which will be presented soon at ESSCIRC'21.
